I know there are probably not many opera fans out there, but there are many gothic rock fans. What happens when you combine both gothic rock with an opera singer...you get the original Nightwish. When I first tell my friends about this, their reaction is what I expect; a questionable what followed by please explain. The combination may not sound very sufficient, but it does work.
Think about what the sound of the opera will do, take words and phrases to a deeper level of your soul with the depth and darkness of the sound. The sound of gothic rock is also dark and mysterious, so it's no wonder that someone hasn't thought of this sooner. Both sounds blend very well together so the listener does not hear a break in the sound.
My favorite song would have to be "Planet Hell." The song starts off as a John Williams soundtrack mixed in with some Danny Elfman. Later on the drummer chimes in along with the electric guitars and haunting keyboards. The male lead singer comes in with a gruff voice followed by the opera alto voice. The song is both catchy, haunting, and rocking.
I know I haven't been keeping up with this blog. I told myself when I first started that I would blog everyday and look what has happened. These next two weeks will be difficult for me to blog often because I will be in a moving transition. I am still new to this site so if someone wouldn't mind mentoring me in the near future I would greatly appreciate it. I hope everyone's weekend is going well. Thanks for reading my blog.
When it comes to many things, fashion, movies, hobbies, music, everyone is striving to be original. Many would probably think that the music industry is definitely lacking in originality...or is it. I have to admit that there are so many new bands that come out each day and many of them lack intelligence and meaning to their songs. Most lack originality, but it is a challenge these days to be completely original. All bands, in some way or another, have been influenced by previous bands, and those bands were influenced by previous bands, and the chain keeps going. The definition of original is fresh, new, arising independently, inventive; most music does not possess any of these definitions. I know someone could argue that today's punk music is very original, but the sound is influenced by the underground punk in the late 80's early 90's. Have you ever listened to the radio and hear two different songs by two different bands, yet you swear that it's the same band playing those two songs? I know there are times that it is hard to differentiate two bands because their supposed unique sounds are very much alike one another.
There are quite a few bands that have unique characteristics to them, but are still products of influential bands born into the exponential growth of rock.
Hi and welcome to my blog. I am very new at this so feedback and structured criticism is greatly appreciated. While exploring orble.com, I've noticed that there are several inactive music blogs. No wonder they're inactive, they all focus on one genre of music or are off topic. I want to focus my blog solely on music and music critique. I am very passionate about music and enjoy a wide variety. I would like to share my opinions and discoveries. Thank you for visiting my music blog.
